Create a warm and inviting home
AFTER what seems to be an especially long and hot summer, many of us are welcoming the cooler autumn temperatures. This time of year is also when we start to consider how best to create a cosy ambience in our living spaces with rich, earthy autumn tones and plush, welcoming textures.
REGAL LOOKING BEDHEADS RULE
Upholstered bedheads have been trending for quite some time now and for good reason. They are both attractive and comfortable and can come in a limitless range of colours and fabrics. Personally, I love velvet, but there are also some smart, contemporary bedheads that are upholstered in timeless linen.
LOUNGING IN STYLE
In the living or sitting room, longer, wider lounge options are a huge trend, as are ottomans. These classic lounge additions allow you to stretch out when cosying up for a night in and a television binge. Ottomans also come in handy to place snacks and drinks on as well, so it’s more practical to choose these in darker colours.
THE BIG BUFFET TREND
The classic buffet is back in a big way. These practical pieces of furniture are ideal for storing ugly electrical items and other essential items you need, but don’t necessarily want to display. There’s a huge range of designs, so you can easily match the size and style of buffet to suit your space.
THROWS, RUGS AND CUSHIONS
Finally, throws and rugs are what’s going to create the ultimate cosiness on cooler nights. A gorgeous mohair throw in coordinating hues, casually strewn across a sofa not only looks fabulous, but can also add a depth of texture and colour to your living room. Add some plump (with genuine feather inserts) cushions and a stylish Morrocan wool rug and you’ve got winter style covered.
